Final Frontier is a project I worked on with Karan Jani, an astrophysicist who went on to discover gravitational waves, along with Brianna Tomlinson and Vinai Suresh. My role was one of design and front-end development.
We had a set of exoplanet data from NASA which we wanted to visualize in some kind of novel, useful way. We used D3 and after several iterations, ultimately decided to go for a radial visualization that compiles all planets in to one orbit. Such a visualization could be useful to scientists who are searching for habitable exoplanets or trying to better understand them.
